Look To Jesus

Look To Jesus

It seems like every day, often multiple times a day, there is a new devastating event taking place. Because of modern technology and our devices, we are constantly being exposed to the brokenness of the world around us in real-time (whether we want to or not). When faced with these realities, it can be tempting to fall into feelings of both hopelessness and helplessness. This is when we have to cling to the truth of who Jesus is and what His word says.

Hebrews 12:2 says, “Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

This truth doesn’t eliminate the hardships happening around us, but provides us an ultimate hope to cling to through every hardship we experience on this side of Heaven. Jesus is that hope! He is our promise of victory.

Look to Him. Keep your eyes, mind, and heart fixed on Him. Ask continually for an eternal perspective.

Looking to Jesus doesn’t mean that we should be oblivious or unaware of what is going on in the world around us. Instead, it allows us to see and experience all things with an eternal perspective. When we look to Jesus, our feelings, fears, concerns, and sorrows aren’t dismissed. He acknowledges them and meets us in the midst of them. Scripture is filled with promises that we will never be left or forsaken.

The confidence in every circumstance rests in the truth that the Lord is always with us and that He is sovereign over all things. The strength and courage that we are commanded to have in His word are not dependent on our own strength or ability, but on Jesus as the source.

His strength is unfailing. His promises are true. His plans and purposes are good and will prevail. His thoughts are higher. His ways are better. He will be faithful.

““For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

When you don’t know what to do, look to Jesus.

When you don’t know where to go, listen for His still, small voice.

When He feels far, trust that He is near and that He is working, and that there is more to the story than what you currently see.

You were not created to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. Instead, you are called to trust the One who holds the world in His hands! Instead of trying to control, choose surrender; not just every day, but every moment.

As you look to Jesus, the world will look to you. Your life will be a testament of the peace, hope, and joy found in Him alone! What a promise. What a privilege.
