Saved by Grace Alone: What Scripture Really Means
By Grace Alone Pullover

It is by grace through faith that we have been saved. It is not through works that we have done. It's not because of our status in society, the job we have, or even who we know. It is because God loved us so deeply that he sent His one and only Son to die on the cross for our sins.

8 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -- and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -- 9 "not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepares in advance for us to do.

We can't work our way into grace. Grace finds us and meets us where we are. Grace is what saves us; there is nothing we can do to save ourselves. We try to be better, to pray more, to do more for the community and the people who need help  and to fix ourselves, but nothing we do can save us. We think, "If I do better, sin less, and fix myself up before I go to God, He will love me more," but Scripture tells us it is not our doing, not our earning, and not our performance.

It is a gift given to us. A gift we didn't earn. A gift we don't have to repay. A gift we didn't deserve, but was given despite how imperfect we are.

We don't have to earn it because someone else has already paid the price... Jesus.

When Jesus was crucified on the cross, he paid the price for our sins and gave us the gift of salvation through grace.

So we don't have to be enough, because He is. Where we fall short, he covers. Grace is freely given to us because of Jesus' sacrifice.

This grace does not fail.

This grace never changes.

This grace can rewrite any story.

This is grace, the hope we need when we are feeling like we are not enough.

Rest in this truth today. Sit with this grace. Let it settle deeper into your heart and ask yourself, "Where in my life do I feel like I am not?" As you ask yourself this and dive deeper into this grace, that is a gift that can not be measured.
