Song of the Week: A Worship Song about Returning to God

I don't think I could find a song more fitting to describe my walk with Jesus than this one right here. Running In Circles. That's exactly what I do.

I was sent this song by a really good friend of mine. She is someone I look up to, and she always pushes me to improve my relationship with God, simply through how she lives her life. Just to give a little backstory before I dive into this song, she sent it to me when I needed it most. Completely out of the blue, I was having such a hard day, and was on my lunch break when I got a text from my friend with this song. No words, just the song and two red hearts. Now I wish I could say I listened to it right away, but I can't. Work got busy, and listening to the song was at the back of my mind, overshadowed by all the things I had to get done by sundown. But looking back, it was such a God thing that I listened to the song when I did.

As I was driving home at the end of the day, I was so run down and just had all these emotions and feelings I didn't know how to deal with, so I turned this song on for the remainder of my drive, and it gave me chills from the very beginning to the end of the song. The song gave me peace and hope that I know can only be found in Him.

"To tell You I need You

To tell You there's no better place for me than in Your arms

To tell You I'm sorry for running in circles

For placing my focus on the waves, not on Your face

You're the only one for me."

How fitting are these lyrics? Day in and day out, I'm constantly running in circles, but this song reminds me that true peace can only come from being in the presence of the Lord. When I first turned this song on, I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude, sorrow and peace. Gratitude for how merciful, forgiving and loving God is, but sorrow for always "running in circles." The peace came when the song ended, and I prayed for repentance and for God to guide my heart back to Him when I start to place "my focus on the waves" rather than on his face.

This song has become a staple in my everyday life. It is a reminder that even when I am running in circles, my home, my peace and my hope are found in Him and Him alone.

Just like this song, our sticker collection is the perfect reminder to place on my computer, water bottle and journal, reminding myself that all the things that distract me or draw my attention away from Him are nothing compared to the peace He provides.
