Song of The Week: A Worship Song about Wanting a Deeper + Stronger Faith

"I want a faith like that"

A line repeated over and over again in the song, but the faith he’s talking about isn’t just believing in God. It’s a faith that trusts even when you can’t see. A faith that remains steady through fear, doubt, and hardship. A faith that is lived out boldly.

This song is about longing for a raw, powerful and all-consuming faith. It’s about choosing to trust in God like the people from the “Bible days.”

Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to walk the earth at the same time as Jesus? To witness the miracles He performed? I know I have. To see Him make the blind see. To watch Him walk on water in the middle of a storm. To have a childlike faith, trusting so deeply that even touching His garment would bring healing.

That is the kind of faith Biers is singing about.

"As this woman
She fell to the floor
Said she believed
That it was true
If she touched Him
Her blood be would new"

In Mark 5:27-29 we hear the story about a women who had been bleeding for 12 years, who was seen to others as unclean and unworthy of contact. "When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, “She had heard the reports about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his garment. For she said, “If I touch even his garments, I will be made well.” And immediately the flow of blood dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease." This women had complete faith in Jesus that even touching his garment healed her because her complete utter faith in who and what He could do.

"I heard a voice
Shouted this Blind
Man who couldn't see
For all of His life
He wanted to see
And Jesus said receive, your sight
You're healed because
Your faith in Me
Because you Believed"

In John 9, a blind man receives his sight because he was destined to have the work of God displayed through Him. "It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him. We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world."

The people who lived during Jesus’ time didn’t have perfect lives or the religious status of the Pharisees, they simply walked by faith. They believed in Jesus enough to act.

That is the Heart behind our new tee, "Walk By Faith." Walking by faith keeps us on the straight, narrow and the path of following Jesus. When you can’t see what He is doing, trust that He is working all things for the better. When you can’t feel Him, hold fast to His Word and trust that He will never leave of forsake you.
