Song of the Week: Worship Song about Knowing You are not Defined by Your Mistakes

"And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them " Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her." - John 8:7

This songs carries carries such a powerful message of grace. It speaks to the heart of people who feel ashamed, overlooked, or defined by their failures.

That message connects so deeply with the heart behind our "Can't Throw Stones" tee, rooted in one of the most powerful moments in Scripture. John 8:7.

This verse tells the story of when the Pharisees demanded an answer from Jesus about a woman caught in adultery. Their goal was to humiliate the women. They were ready to expose her, shame her and condemn her publicly. Stones were in their hands, judgment was in their hearts.

But Jesus responded with one sentence that changed everything.

“Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”

Jesus shifted the focus from her sin to their own hearts. He reminded them that none of us stand perfect before God. None of us have the right to condemn another person. None of us are perfect enough to hold the sins of others over their heads.

One by one, they dropped their stones and walked away.

How often do we still pick up stones today? Stones of judgment. Stones of gossip. Stones of reminding people of their past. Stones of condemning ourselves for our own mistakes

John 8:7 reminds us that before we judge others, we must remember our own need for grace. We all fall short of the glory of God. We all need mercy, mercy only He can give.

Jesus did not call us to be known for condemnation. He called us to humility. In John 13, He knelt and washed the disciples’ feet, even knowing their failures. He died on the cross for our sins. He calls us His even when we sin against Him.

It is hard to serve someone while judging them.
It is hard to love someone while condemning them.
