Song of the Week: Worship Song about Finding the Good in Every Day
IT'S A GREAT DAY TO HAVE A GREAT DAY! π
In Psalm 118:24, King David wrote "This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." David wrote this as a celebratory psalm. He is telling us to celebrate and recognize that God has secured salvation and victory over death. As believers, we are called to have a joyous outlook on life and be examples of Christ.
June is here, and with it comes another monthly tee drop. This month's verse is Psalm 118:24. This song, written by Cody Carnes, is the perfect worship song to listen to when you are feeling down and sadness is creeping its way into your day.
"He brought us from mourning to dancingFrom glory to gloryThis is the day the Lord has madeSo what are we waiting for"
King David wrote in this verse for us to rejoice in the Lord. He sent His One and Only Son to pay the price of our sins, defeating death and making a way for us to have a relationship with Him. Because of that, we have a reason to rejoice every single day. Not because life is easy and everything is going your way, but because God is ALWAYS good.
The words of Cody Carnes' song remind us of this truth. He takes our mourning and turns it into dancing. He takes our brokenness and brings healing. No matter what season we find ourselves in, we can trust that He is still working.
Sometimes rejoicing comes easily. We celebrate answered prayers and new opportunities. Other times, rejoicing is harder. We may be walking through grief, uncertainty, disappointment or waiting on God to move in a situation. Psalm 118:24 reminds us that we are supposed to rejoice every day, not just the days when we are happy, but the days when sadness is present and we have little to no hope.
When sadness creeps in, choose to shift your focus back to Him. Back to His promises. Reflect on His goodness. Thank Him daily for sending Jesus to pay the price for our sins. Joy is not found in perfect circumstances, it is found in Him.
As you wear this month's tee and listen to this week's song, let it serve as a reminder that today belongs to the Lord. Stand on the truth that Psalm 118:24 represents.
