Stop Treating Your Faith Like It’s Private: Why Bold Faith Matters

Stop Treating Your Faith Like It’s Private: Why Bold Faith Matters

Somewhere along the way, society began to treat faith as something private - something to be kept to ourselves out of fear or judgement, offending others, or coming across as too pushy. We say we love Jesus, yet instead of living it out loud, our faith becomes a whisper rather than a bold declaration.  But faith was never meant to be hidden or silenced.

Matthew 5:14 says, "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden." As Christians we are meant to be followers of Jesus and to live like he did. We are called to be the light of the world. To live our faith boldly. Later, in verse 16, we are called to, "Let your light shine before other, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Our light was never meant to be hidden, it is meant to shine out into the world so that others who may not know Jesus can see Him through our actions, how we love others and how we live our lives, especially on the hard days.

Remember that song we were all taught in Sunday School as little kids about letting our light shine?  It goes like this "This little light of mine. I'm going to let it shine. Hide it under a bush? Oh no, I'm going to let it shine... Won't let Satan blow it out. I'm going to let it shine." That message still matters. It reflects exactly what the world and Satan tries to do with our faith. We are often made to feel  like it's wrong, uncomfortable,  or impolite to live our faith out boldly. The pressure is subtle but constant; dim your light, keep quiet, don’t stand out. But we were never meant to blend in - the world tries to dim our light, but we are called to let it shine

We are called to be disciples of Christ and to spread the gospel, yet when the world pushes back, tries to tear you down, and makes it seem wrong, it's often fear that makes us shrink back. Instead of standing firm, we hold back, becoming less bold with our faith than we are called to be.  Your life and the way you live could be the reason why someone comes to know Jesus and accepts Him as their savior. What you say, how you act and even what you wear can lead someone to know Jesus, and be another soul saved. You may be the reason someone lives their faith boldly because they have seen you do the same. Being bold in your faith isn't about being loud; it's about being willing to share the gospel even when the world tries to dim your light.

There are so many ways to live out your faith boldly. It could be praying for someone - even if it seems awkward or you don't know them. It could be choosing to show kindness on a day when everything feels hard. It could be sharing your testimony and how God has moved in your life, even when you're nervous to speak in front of a crowd. It can even be as simple as wearing your faith.

God’s Word reminds us that bold faith isn’t about having everything together, it’s about stepping out in obedience. In 2 Timothy 1:7, we’re told “for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” When we choose to live this way, even in small, everyday moments, we reflect His love and truth to a world that desperately needs it.

That is our mission here at Dear Heart -to spread the good news through our products and empower people to share the gospel. Whether that's through a shirt that reflects your favorite verse, a reminder that God helped you through a tough time, or a message that offers encouragement to someone else, it’s all about pointing back to Him.

You don't have to be perfect. You don't have to stand in front of thousands of people. You don't have to have all of the answers. God works through those who are willing, not the perfect. All you have to do is have a willing heart, and He will work through you.

Maybe bold faith doesn’t start with a big moment. Maybe it starts with one small step of obedience.
