For God So Loved You
Has there ever been a time when you have wondered if you were truly loved? Not loved in a superficial kind of way, but in a way that even with your history and past, you were still considered worthy? Not just on your best days or the peaceful ones, but on the messy ones? It’s easy to question our worth or feel overlooked. But John 3:16 reminds us of a love that never fails, a love that reaches us exactly where we are.
John 3:16-17 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son and that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."
These verses may be some of the most well-known verses in the Bible, and that's due to the message they carry. It’s a verse that brings hope and comfort in the hardest of times. It captures the heart of God in two sentences. It shows unconditional love. Love that isn't conditional or fleeting. A love that is constant, steady, and trusting. God gave His one and only Son to die on the cross, so that we would have everlasting life. God didn't give something small or something that could be replaced. No. He gave His Son. The love God has for us is personal. It is an intentional kind of love.
Have you ever felt like you aren't worthy of this kind of love? Do you have to earn or prove yourself to have this love? I'm here to tell you that you don't. John 3:16 is a reminder that God's love came before you had it all together - before you even knew to ask for it - kind of love like this.
God asks us to simply believe in Him. Fully and unconditionally trusting in Him. He doesn’t ask us to be perfect or to have all the answers. He just asks us to trust. But that can be hard sometimes. Have you ever felt like you weren’t chosen or good enough? It’s so easy to compare yourself to others and feel like you don’t measure up. We start thinking we have to be perfect just to be loved, and when we fall short, we begin to believe lies like “I’m not worth it.”
But the truth is, those thoughts don’t come from God. God already chose you and loves you deeply, not because you’re perfect, but because that’s who He is. You don’t have to earn His love or compete for it. He simply asks you to trust Him and believe. When you have that trust in Him, you can rest in the truth that you are already fully loved.
So instead of striving to be perfect or comparing yourself to others, choose to rest in the truth that you are already loved. Not because of what you’ve done or who you think you should be, but because of who God is. He already chose you. He already loves you. All He asks is that you trust Him and believe in that love, even when it’s hard.
