Song of the Week: Worship Song about Being Set Free

"I run in the path of your commandments, for you have set my heart free" Psalm 119:32

There’s something powerful about the message in this song! It’s a reminder that freedom isn’t something we have to earn, it’s something that has already been given. Through Jesus’ sacrifice, we are no longer bound by sin, shame or the burdens of our past.

"Released from my chains I'm a prisoner no moreMy shame was a ransom He faithfully boreHe canceled my debt and He called me His friend."

Being set free doesn’t mean life suddenly becomes perfect, but it means we’re no longer bound by what once held us captive. Because of the cross, we get to walk in grace, in purpose and in a new identity. This song isn’t just something you sing because it is catchy, it’s a declaration that death no longer has the final say. Jesus does, and in Him, we are fully and forever free.

In John 8:36, we are told, "So if the son sets you free, you will be free indeed."  The kind of freedom we are promised isn't the kind of freedom that is fleeting or temporary, it is final.  In Christ, we are made new, we are set free from the burdens of our past. We see this promise in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" This verse shows us that our past does not define us. Our mistakes don't determine our salvation. Jesus does.

Our “Set Free” bracelet is more than just something you wear. It’s a daily reminder of Jesus' sacrifice. Because of what Jesus has already done, we don't have to carry the weight of our past. We’ve been given the gift of freedom.

Each time you see it on your wrist, let it remind you that you have the opportunity to walk in the fullness of His work. Resting in His grace, standing on His promises, and embracing the truth that you are already set free.

Let this song be more than just something playing in the background. Let it be your reminder. Whatever is weighing on your heart, whatever feels like it’s holding you back, it doesn’t have authority over you anymore. Because of Jesus, you are fully, completely and forever set free.
