Song of the Week: A Worship Song About God Reminding Us Where Peace Comes From
The textbook definition of peace says: a state of tranquility, or freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions. Or that's what Merriam-Webster says anyway... But what does the Bible define peace as?
To me peace is defined as a serene feeling and a firm truth that no matter what comes my way, I can give all of my feelings of anxiety, fear and unease to God. I have "peace" in knowing that God sent His One and Only Son to die on the cross for me. I have "peace" in knowing that no matter what God will shine His face upon me. But maybe "peace" means something different to you. It doesn't matter if you have a different definition of what "peace" means to you. What matters is what is spoken to us in Numbers 6:24-26.
"The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace."
This verse right here is one that I keep coming back to again and again, because I know no matter what, I can stand firm in knowing that as long as I keep my face, mind and actions facing God, He will be gracious to me and give me peace.
That is why I chose this week's song to be what it is.
"The Blessing" by Kari Jobe Carnes and Cody Carnes is a song that I find comfort in when my anxiety and emotions are running wild.
Like today for instance, I left work feeling so down and my head was a mess. I honestly just wanted to sit in silence on the way home and not think about anything, but in a turn of events, I went to set my cup in the cup holder and turned on the radio. Now the song that had just got done playing was the song I was listening to while working and I was just getting ready to turn the radio back off and THIS song started playing. There was something in me that needed to hear the lyrics in the song and just sit in the presence of the Lord and give my worries and anxiety to him. I am not saying this magically helped me out of my mood, but what I can tell you is that it made me realize what a blessing it is to even say that God sent His Son to die on the cross for me and my sins. It made me realize that even when I am facing hard times, or have all the emotions, my God is a gracious God and is protecting and helping me through it all.

As you go through this week, pray Numbers 6:24-26 over your day. Pray for the reminders that no matter what God is protecting you and wants you to rest in His presence.
