Song of the Week: A Worship Song about Rest + Security Being Found in Christ

This week's song is “Father’s House” by Forrest Frank. This song has been such a beautiful reminder to me that my security isn't found in having everything figured out or knowing what the future holds. My security is found in knowing Who my Father is and knowing that I belong to Him.

There are many moments when I find myself wanting to know what comes next. I like to have a plan, knowing where I'm going and feeling certain about what the future holds. But the more I try to find security in knowing what's ahead, the more I realize I can never find it. I have realized the only thing that brings true security comes from the One who already knows it all.

And what makes this even more beautiful is knowing that Jesus has already gone before me and prepared a place for me in the Father's House.

“In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?” — John 14:2

In John 14:2-3, Jesus reminds His disciples that He is going before them to prepare a place for them and that He will come again to bring them to Himself. What a beautiful promise of security, belonging and hope.

Jesus didn't just tell us that there is a place for us. He went before us to prepare it.

Knowing this changes the way I look at uncertainty in my life. I don't have to be afraid of the future. I don't have to have every detail of my life planned down to the minute, because He already knows what the future holds for me.

There is something so comforting about knowing there is a place where I can let my guard down, stop trying to be perfect and simply rest. I don't have to earn my place. It has already been prepared for me. I don't have to worry about not being enough or even being too much. In Christ, I am already welcomed, loved and His.

Sometimes I look for security in my relationships, my plans, my circumstances or my ability to figure things out. But all of those things can change. Relationships change. Plans change. Circumstances change. Even the things I thought I could count on can suddenly look different.

But He doesn't change.

Jesus offers me something far greater than temporary security. He offers me a place to belong. He offers me His presence. He offers me the promise that I will never have to walk through this life alone.

Because of this, I can give my worries over to Him and trust that He will provide for me. I can stop trying to control every detail and remember that my future is already safe in His hands.

Maybe you need this reminder today, too. Maybe you're in a season where you don't know what comes next and the unknown feels a little scary. Maybe you're trying to find security in something that was never meant to carry the weight of your trust.

You don't have to know the future to have peace about it. He knows where you're going. He has already gone before you. He has prepared a place for you with Him.

You belong in the Father's House.

This week, let “Father’s House” remind you that you don’t have to carry everything on your own. You can slow down, surrender what you’ve been holding onto and rest in the security of your Father.
